Pudak Scientific had provided training for the future elementary school teachers of Kaimana Regency, West Papua, who were studying in Jurusan Pendidikan Guru Sekolah Dasar (Department of Elementary School Teacher Education) of Universitas Negeri Jakarta on Monday, May 12, 2014. The activity was held in Pudak Training Center - Bandung. As much as 70 participants took part in this training, they were 58 students and 12 of their lecturers.

The material provided was about The Role of Science and Mathematics Teaching Aid in School. The first session of the training was explanation on how important teaching aids are in the learning development and that the proper teaching method may help students in fully understand science and mathematics. The speaker also conveyed that there are no stupid students in this world; they only have not met the right teacher with the right teaching method. Therefore, it is important to master the educational teaching aid as a solution for teacher's problems in teaching science and mathematics in the classroom.

Participants were invited to interact with the teaching aids; one of them was the number balance. By using this tool, math operation concept can be explained and understood easier. Other tools that was tried by the participants was the Elementary School Science Kit, which can explain various concepts, such as the concept of light, optical tools, energy, temperature, sound, electricity and magnetism.

After lunch, participants had a factory visit. The curiosity and enthusiasm of the participants were remarkable, one of them even requested to try one of the glassware making process at the Glass Division of Pudak Scientific.

In the next session the participants were given the chance to do science experiments which emphasized on scientific approach, in accordance with the 2013 Curriculum. The teaching aids to do the science experiments don’t have to be expensive. Various things around us can be a useful media for science experiments. In the theme of "The Fun Science and Mathematics Experiments Around Us", all participants were very interested in conducting the experiments. The experiments include:

• The Raging Can
• The Magic Egg
• Fire Money
• Turning Tea into water
• Secret Letter
• Chemical Fountain
• Constructing a Bridge by using Straws

"This kind of training is necessary for the future teachers in the regions, especially these future teachers from Kaimana", said one of the lecturers of UNJ.

It is expected that after attending this training, these future teachers will be the teachers of this nation successor who will never tired in educating their students until the end of the time,  … seiring senja meredupkan sinarnya … hingga akhir masa … (… as the twilight dims its light… until the end of time…), as cited from the song of "Senja di Kaimana".
